From only reading the author’s point about Amanda case without any background information about it, I judge this case as one of the disadvantages of popularization of digital devices. Amanda is just a girl who did not use citation properly. In everyday life, this thing may happen to everyone who writes. Why the case is exaggerated to such big extent?  That is because of the power of online literacy. Online literacy can do anything it wants. A minor point can be exaggerated to a major idea, a major point can be eliminated as well.

If Amanda only accused the anti-plagiarism website without any words or posts on website, the things will be easy. She will win the case and get some compensation from both the website and university. But the main reason causes the case become so horrible is Internet. Everyone can talk and post his ideas on the website, even if it is a helpless or useless point. Why we are not going to say something bad in our daily conversation with others same as we do online. That is because we are not to take the same amount of responsibility of accuracy of literacy in this two situation. We just use a nickname and post some words without any real information. We can say anything which may not go towards our brain before typing. Or even on some real-name website like Facebook, we are still dare the abusage of language. One of my friend tell me some bad experience about online society. He is a hard-working and honest student in daily life. But after he broke up with his girlfriend, there were always some words on our online community that he cheated in every exam. We were wondering where these words came from.  Finally, we knew that his girlfriend said this words in the online small group to her friends and her friends propagate it. From my friend’s example, we can see that there is two kinds of irresponsible. First, his girlfriend knew he is not a cheating man while she still posted some ideas about this. Second, his girlfriend’s friends did not make sure that these bad words are true before propagation. All these occurred because they don’t need to be penalized for that.  

Also, there is another situation like Amanda’s photo. Everyone is not possible to be perfect in daily life.  We all like to post some our news and events to Facebook. And everyone may have the right to see all our posts. When there is something happen to me, I am famous and someone start to have interest at me. He may find anything he wants on my personal page. My bad side will be enlarged if he did some propagation. And everyone will consider I am not that good. Internet is a place where black can be turned to white. So for Amanda’s case, it is the power of Internet to make her have such bad results. And Internet now influences hew life a lot and may have the influences on the future work in her real life.
